Locking Files
When you lock a file, no one, except you, is able to change or over-write it until it's unlocked. While one bigVAULT member is working on a shared file it remains locked, so that other bigVAULT members cannot accidentally corrupt it. They still have read-only access to the file for viewing or printing. Files manually locked from bvDRIVE will appear with a lock icon on the website.

To manually lock one or more files, select the files in the Windows Explorer and right-click on it. Select bigVAULT then Lock Files.
Note: Only files can be locked, not folders.
Tip: You can lock or unlock multiple files at the same time.
Tip: Files locked from bvDRIVE can be unlocked from the website.
Unlocking Files

To unlock files, follow the same steps above but choose bigVAULT, Unlock Files from the right-click menu.
Alternatively, click the lock icon on the website and select one or more files to be unlocked.
Checking Status

bvDRIVE's shell integration feature allows you to see the locked status of files right in the Windows Explorer. When applicable bvDRIVE shows an additional Status column in the detailed file view. This column contains status information.
For locked files it will show the name of the person who locked it.
